ANDERSON – To the delight of a large contingent of NTN and NTK officials from Japan, Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch said there were many reasons to celebrate in Anderson including the victory of Takuma Sato at the Indianapolis 500.

Officials from NTN Driveshaft and NTK Precision Axle were in Anderson on Wednesday for the official groundbreaking of the new $98 million production facility for NTK that will employ 198 people by 2021.

During the ceremony, NTK provided $10,000 to the Anderson Community Schools Corp. for two $5,000 scholarships for Anderson High School graduates to attend Purdue Polytechnic, Anderson University or Ivy Tech Community College.

NTK is a subsidiary company of NTN, which started production in Anderson this year. NTK produces wheel hubs and constant velocity joint axles for cars and trucks.

Tetsuya Sogo, CEO of NTN for the Americas Region, said he was pleased that NTK took the step to open a production facility in Anderson.

“NTN has a great partnership with Indiana and the city of Anderson,” he said. “We have had a great experience with Indiana and Anderson.”

Sogo said NTN Americas had sales approaching $2 billion and employs 5,000 people worldwide.

“We are looking at further expansion of our business in Anderson,” he said. “We rely on local products, local materials and local management to grow our company.

“We expect excellent production here to make the plant perform at the highest level,” Sogo said. “This facility we place as a high priority on our business.”
