[ARCHIVED] City of Anderson Supports Emerging Technology Startups

The City of Anderson Board of Works has approved two economic development incentive agreements. Go Electric, Inc. and SES, Inc. are both emerging technology startups that will help bring research and technology jobs and investment back to Anderson.

Go Electric Inc., a green technology start-up company headquartered in the Levinson Center at the Flagship Enterprise Center in Anderson, Indiana, was recently awarded a $2.99 million Small Business Innovation Research Rapid Innovation Fund (SBIR RIF) contract for the SPIDERS micro grid project at Camp Smith in Hawaii. The City is helping to support Go Electric, Inc. with a $50,000 economic development grant that will be used in tandem with the company’s own capital investment in an enhanced test cell in Anderson to advance this project. Go Electric, Inc. will remain in Anderson where it was founded and invest $100,000 in its new facility while creating 11 jobs with the first (SBIR RIF) contract maintaining a payroll of $500,000 over the next three years.

Stored Energy Solutions Inc., a green technology start-up company originally located in Syracuse, Indiana, focusing on energy conservation and recovery systems for the refuse market. The City is supporting SES, Inc. with a $50,000 economic development grant that will assist the company in its relocation to Anderson to begin the process of developing functional prototypes and ending with a commercial product ready for market. Also, SES will be relocating to the Flagship Enterprise Center where SES will bring $225,000 of new capital investment and between 11 & 15 high-paying jobs over the next two years.

“This is a great opportunity for the City of Anderson, these two companies point the way to the future of what our city can and will be. The innovation and entrepreneurship of Go Electric and SES are a welcome addition to Anderson’s tradition of excellence in engineering,” said Greg Winkler, City of Anderson Interim Director of Economic Development.

Rob Sparks, Executive Director of the Madison County/Anderson Corporation for Economic Development, said, “We certainly welcome Go Electrics continued investment in our community and know that the choice of SES to invest in our communities energy cluster is great news for both them and us.”

Chuck Staley, President & CEO of the Flagship Enterprise Center stated, “The addition of these two companies to our community highlights our entrepreneurial spirit and the commitment to innovation that is exemplified by Anderson and the Flagship Enterprise Center.”
